Elsie's Nursery Tour

The nursery is finally complete and I am so excited to share the end result! This room has been a labor of love that Jordan and I have worked hard on preparing for our little girl practically since the day we found out she was a girl at 16 weeks along and we are in love with it.
This room used to be the storage/"future guest room" that just housed random things that didn't have a place anywhere else in our home since we moved in over a year and a half ago. But once we decided to turn it into the nursery, it forced us to declutter, donate, and sell a lot of those things, which was the perfect start to this whole nesting process!
There were two things I knew I wanted to incorporate into the nursery from the get-go:
The first was a blush and gold theme. I just love how soft and girly, yet not over-the-top PINK, this blush color is. I also have fallen more and more in love with gold accents lately and I love the combo of the two together!
The second was a bird motif throughout the room to go along with her middle name, Wren. Plus I think birds and feathers add a little bit of a whimsical element that flows well with the theme and design of the room. I started with this adorable blush bird crib sheet and went from there.
I originally planned on doing a wallpaper or shiplap crib wall, but after realizing how costly and time-consuming either of those would be, we opted for a simple, blush pink (Sherwin Williams - "Intimate White") accent wall, which was so much easier and turned out so lovely. I knew I wanted just a simple, bright white on the rest of the walls, so after a lot of searching for the perfect white shade that wouldn't be too creamy or too stark, we went with Benjamin Moore's "Simply White", which really turned out to be the perfect balance between the two.
The moment I saw the Babyletto "Hudson" crib, I was in love. I did a lot of looking, but just seemed to keep coming back to this one. Plus it's a 3-in-1 convertible crib, which is another huge bonus! I decided on white furniture all around because it majorly brightens up the room and it's versatile for future babies as well.
I actually made the sign above her crib at a sign making class, which I think is really neat and adds a unique, personalized touch to her nursery. I love the quote and the fact that it also features her name!
On the floor, I went with a neutral, grey and cream rug to lighten up the dark carpet a bit and give the room a little bit more of the boho style I was aiming to achieve.
Now for the dresser! I wanted something that would initially double as a changing table, but also last throughout the years as Elsie grows up. I found this solid wood dresser on Facebook Marketplace for a steal and refinished it myself with Valspar Furniture Paint in their whitest white to match the crib. It didn't require any sanding, priming, or a top coat and has a very protective, satin finish. It did require quite a few coats because the initial wood color was so dark, but all in all I am very happy with end result! We also spray painted the hardware that came with the dresser gold and I found these adorable little bird knobs after the fact that I added to the top row.
I love these little Ikea baskets, which are perfect for storing all of her headbands!
Gold spray paint also came in handy for this little corner of the nursery. We spray painted both the shelf brackets (originally silver) and side table (originally white), which now happens to look just like this Pottery Barn side table, but for a tiny fraction of the cost!
I also loooove this glider/recliner. It is SO soft and comfy and I love the recliner element of it, rather than an ottoman that takes up more space in the room. I foresee spending many nights asleep with Elsie in this chair in the very near future.
This wall was my final project and after thinking long and hard about what to put here, I decided I needed a place to feature some photos that we will have taken after she's born. So I opted for these gold frames and added some blush feather prints I found on Etsy for now.
I also wanted a spot to hang a few things like her sling, this banner that was gifted to me by a friend at my shower (I love this scripture and how it ties into the theme of the room!), and possibly her diaper bag when I'm not using it.
Well I think that just about covers it! Elsie is due in less than two weeks and we are over-the-moon ready for her arrival. This was such a fun project to tackle over the course of my pregnancy and starting early so we could take our time and add to it gradually definitely made it much more enjoyable I think. All of this could definitely pile up quickly at the last minute, so for the sake of finances and time, I'm glad we did it this way.
I know a lot of this isn't 100% necessary before your baby comes, but I highly doubt I'll be wanting to shop and decorate and paint and work on projects for a while after she's here, ha! Plus, this has been a fun way to anticipate her arrival and helped us to really feel ready.
If you enjoyed this or have any questions, comment below! I'd love to hear about your nurseries or how you prepared for your little one's arrival.
xoxo,
Lily
